Griffith Park
Griffith Park uses basic stranded knitting techniques and traditional fair isle motifs to create an elegant and warm hat, suitable for either a man or woman. Size is adjusted by changing needle sizes.
For MEDIUM hat
Gauge: 28 sts and 32 rows = 4” on US 4 (3.5 mm) needles in stockinette.
Needles: 1 set size US 2 (2.75 mm) 16” circular needles; 1 set US 4 (3.5 mm) 16” circular needles; 1 set US 4 (3.5 mm) 6” dpns.
For LARGE hat
Gauge: 24 sts and 30 rows = 4” on US 5 (3.75 mm) needles in stockinette.
Needles: 1 set size US 3 (3.25 mm) 16” circular needles; 1 set US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” circular needles; 1 set US 5 (3.75 mm) 6” dpns.
The model is knit from Reynolds Whiskey (100% wool, 195 yd 177 m 50 g), in colors Dark Pink #131 (main color) and Light Grey #31 (contrasting color). You will need about half a skein of each color. Because this pattern is stranded, if you substitute a different yarn, it is recommended you choose a somewhat “sticky” yarn - one with a slight tendency to felt.
