sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
Additional Terms:
Star stitch: this stitch is described in the pattern itself. Short tutorial video linked in pattern
Waistcoat stitch: work a regular single crochet in the center of the post of the stitch instead of through the front and back loops as you normally would. Short tutorial video linked in pattern.
Gauge:
4” across after round 5. 14 sc in 4”
Measurements:
9-12 mos: 8 1/2” wide by 6” tall
Toddler: 9” wide by 6 1/2” tall
Child: 9 3/4” wide by 7” tall
Adult: 10 1/2” wide by 7 1/2” tall
Additional Notes:
-For the Star Stitch: Except for the first star in the round, when making the first part of the star stitch, the loop on your hook is counted as the first loop out of 6. You will only draw up 5 loops.
- It may be possible to make a 6 month size by going down a hook size and following the 9-12 months pattern. You may also need to omit a round of the Waistcoat Stitch so the hat doesn’t get too long.
