This crochet pattern is for the groundhog applique that is made in the shape of a heart.

Although I designed this applique for the groundhog, the pattern also can be used to make a beaver, chipmunk, or squirrel applique as well. You just need to omit the top hat.

Finished size: this groundhog applique is about 3-3/4” (9.5 cm) with a hat and about 2-3/4″ (7 cm) without a hat.

Yarn: medium weight #4 yarn, crochet thread size 3.
