Inspired by the amazing mosaic work at the Gur-e Amir Mausoleum in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, this stole and the matching hat are my attempt at incorporating the beauty of Islamic geometric designs into knitting. The patterns are simple to knit, and the rhythm and repetition can be meditative, recreating the state experienced by Islamic artists as they create these detailed works of art as well as by those who view their amazing creations.
