This design is inspired by the thunderbird which is a prominent feature on many of the totem poles found along Canada’s west coast. It is knit entirely in garter st, and requires picking up sts with a smaller needle, as shown in this tutorial. It could be knit in 2 or more colours; the possible combinations are endless!
