Hala Kahiki Beach Tote
by Regina Rioux
If you’re hitting the beach, take along our sturdy crocheted Hala Kahiki bag (that’s Hawaiian for pineapple, doncha know). This faux fruit is roomy enough to fit everything you need for a day of watching surfers go by. The ingenious scalloped stitch pattern captures the bumpy texture and spiny leaves of a pineapple so cleverly. A drawstring just below the leaves cinches the bag in perfect pineapple form and a strap allows you to throw it over your shoulder as you make your way across the sandy landscape. It’s crocheted with plastic raffia, so you don’t have to worry about getting it wet, it’s easy to clean and sand shakes right off.
