Halo
Pulsing orbs and crescent moons are scattered all over these dense, cozy HALO mittens. Worked in a traditional style with an afterthought thumb, they have a simple construction. Colorwork will make a fairisle fan’s heart beat faster. For colorwork newbies this would be a perfect first project. These lightweight HALO mittens are a stylish and comfy addition to your autumn wardrobe.
The mittens are worked in the round from the cuff to the tip. The long, ribbed hem is folded to keep your wrist extra warm. Once the cuff is completed the colorwork part for the hand begins. Thumb stitches are knitted on waste yarn to be worked later as an afterthought thumb with different placements for right and left thumb. The rounded shaped tip of the hand is grafted with Kitchener stitch.
The original colorwork patterns can be found in Andrea Rangel’s wonderful book “AlterKnit Stitch Dictionary: 200 Modern Knitting Motifs”.
