The Hanami shawl is inspired by the loveliness of cherry tree blossoms in the springtime. Hanami or “flower viewing” is an ancient Japanese custom of picnicking under the blossoming cherry trees and enjoying their fleeting beauty. This semi-circular, three color shawl is shaped by only a few increase rows set at regular intervals between floral lace and stockinette dotted with eyelets. Knit in worsted weight yarn with larger needles, this shawl is both airy and warm - the perfect combination for wearing while picnicking under the cherry tree blossoms in the spring sunshine.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

• 46”, blocked, from wingtip to wingtip across the top of shawl
• 23”, blocked, from center CO point to center BO
• 90”, blocked, from wingtip to wingtip across the bottom BO of shawl

Julie Asselin Nurtured (100% Fine American Wool: Merino + Rambouillet + Targhee; 130 yards/56g): 4 skeins or approx. 520 yards total.
MC: 2 skeins (260 yards) in Madras;
CC1: 1 skein (130 yards) in Irma;
CC2: 1 skein (130 yards) in Crinoline.

• Please note that you will use almost exactly 130 yards for the CC2 - if you are substituting a different yarn or modifying the pattern, you need to make sure you have at least 130 yards for this color.
