Designed in conjunction with the Crochet Guild (of) Australia for SHARE THE DIGNITY - an Australian charity that gives sanitary products to homeless women and fights for victims of domestic violence. In Australia, family violence is the number one reason people present to homeless services. 55% of females cite this reason.

The bag size was designed to suit the storage of tampons and sanitary pads, but would also function very nicely as a clutch purse for phones, pens, make up or even, yes …crochet hooks.

For every purse you make for yourself, wouldn’t it be wonderful to make at least one purse for the Australian women living rough? It’s a quick project, and can be such a practical benefit to a woman who is struggling.

I have listed this pattern for free as I hope that some money that would have been spent to buy the pattern can instead be spent on making a purse for Share The Dignity.

The Crochet Guild Australia is collecting finished purses and will pass them on to Share The Signity Charity to benefit those in need!

Yarn used is Scheepjes Catona Mercerized cotton in two colours. Catona is used for its amazing colour range, durability and excellent sheen.

One purse can be made with 1 x 50g ball of main colour (Yarn A), and 1 x 25gm ball of accent colour (Yarn B), an 18cm Birch dress nylon zip, and some sewing thread. A small amount of hand-sewing is required.
