Happiness Haps
Traditional patterns combine to create a warm and cozy shoulder shawl or baby blanket when square, or a slightly larger triangular shaped shawl.
Both patterns start with a center piece knit on the diagonal, they can be knit plain or in the simple lace pattern as shown.
The center piece is bordered by the Old Shale lace pattern, shown striped with two colours. The stripes can be omitted and the border worked in the same colour as the center or the stripes could be worked in multiple colours. Knitters’ choice.
The lace edging is a simple repeat that could be knit in the same colour as the shawl or contrasting colour as shown.
Both patterns are charted and written.
I call these the Happiness Haps because they are knit in my happy colours - yours will be different. I kept the patterning fairly simple to let the colours speak and keep the knitting from being too demanding.
There are some interesting details. The floating corner, repeating the lace edging pattern without attaching to create just that little bit of extra interest. The two colour bind-off across the top of the triangle hap - just enough to be interesting.
Happy Knitting!
