Happy Camper Hat
This pattern was created for the 2026 Puget Sound LYS Tour in PNW Washington state.
Pattern drops Wednesday, May 13th.
Info:
I love a good hat. This hat makes me think of camping. For a while, I couldn’t place why it made me think of that, but then it hit me! I’m pretty sure I had a sleeping bag with a liner that had patterning similar to this.
Yarn: Approximately 1.75oz (50g) each of three contrasting colors in Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt, 99yds (91m), 1.75oz (50g) Norwegian wool or other DK/light worsted weight yarn to make gauge.
Sample pictured at the right is made with one skein of each of the following:
Color 1: 5012 Perfect Purple
Color 2: 7281 Deep Petrol
Color 3: 9564 Matcha
Needles: US 4 (3.50mm) and US 5 (3.75mm) or size to obtain gauge. You will need 16in (40cm) circular needles and/or double-pointed needles or needles with a cord long enough for magic loop.
Notions: four stitch markers, tapestry needle, crochet hook (provisional cast-on only)
Gauge: 25 sts and 28 rows in 4in x 4in (10cm x 10cm) in the round on larger needles, in pattern as indicated in Chart A.
Finished Measurements:
S/M: 19.5in (49cm)
M/L: 22.5in (56.5cm)
Sample is a S/M, with a total length of 9.25in (23cm). Recommended 0-2in (0-5cm) negative ease. Keep in mind that floats don’t stretch much.
