Happy Heart Blanket
This crocheted granny square blanket is a perfect project for a learning beginner. The pattern has both description and diagrams to help you with a successful project. Inspired by the rainbow colours of modern day patchwork quilts, this pattern is deceptively easy. You can use the yarns and colourway shown in the front cover, or use the pattern to whittle down your yarn stash.
To make the large blanket I have used a combination of Stylecraft Special DK yarn. The large blanket uses 45 colours for the hearts and cream for the unifying background. The large blanket also has an oblong pattern to help the rows of hearts to be off-set. There is also a design for making a smaller lap/cot blanket. For this design I used Yarnsmiths Merino DK Superwash.
You will also need a 3.5mm crochet hook and a tapestry needle.
The Large Blanket is approximately 178 x 156cm (70 x 61.5in)
A Lap/Cot Blanket of 3 x 3 square motifs with the edging will be – approximately 73cm x 73cm (28.5in x 28.5in)
The pattern is written using UK Crochet terms. There are stitch diagrams and schematics to help you understand the placing of the hearts.
