I created this funny “patchwork” Harlequin sweater for my daughter Alice. The idea was to crochet the piece of the torso using a beautiful stitch (I used the Suzette stitch), adding some ribbed borders to both torso and sleeves to obtain a stretchy silhouette effect.

  • This pattern is rather easy, both technically and conceptually.
  • This project is totally customizable: choose the yarn and colour combinations of your choice and adapt it to your own size!
  • The front and back sides are supposed to be identical, meaning you can decide to wear the sweater as you like.

This pattern is in ENGLISH and uses standard US crochet terminology and abbreviations. It contains a link to a free YouTube video explaining the technique.

FINISHED SIZE: the item pictured is made to fit a 7-year-old girl. It measures 40 cm (15,7”) from top to bottom, it is 30 cm (11,8”) wide and the sleeves are 20 cm (7,9”) long.

YARN: about 255 g (9 oz) / 430 mt. (470 yds) of medium worsted Aran acrylic or wool yarn to be worked with the given hook size, or as much yarn as necessary for a bigger size. I used Malik “Lettonia” yarn cake from Tessiland.

GAUGE: 11-14 sts / 10x10 cm (4”x4”).

HOOKS: 4.5 mm hook (7 - 7).

NOTIONS: Crochet basics: chain, single crochet, slip stitch, working in rows, working in rounds, joining. Sc ribbed stitch. The Suzette stitch used for the torso will be explained in this pattern.
