Harvest Pumpkin Tea Cosy
The Harvest Pumpkin Tea Cosy was inspired by harvest festivals, Halloween and the oncoming autumn.
The main part of the pumpkin in knitted in a wrapped rib, it’s an interesting knitting stitch that really lends itself to pumpkins. The stalk is knitted separately and sewn on and given a curled look, mimicking how pumpkin stalk do tend to grow.
The two brown rodents are adorable. One is looking down to the second one whos looking up. Their tails curl up around the pumpkin. If you don’t like rodents, you could leave them off and have just the beautiful pumpkin.
The pumpkin and rodents also feel like they couple be part of the Cinderella story. ‘Ping,’ the teapot turned into a Pumpkin and the horses turned back into rodents.
It’s a delightful tea cosy to make, the wrapped rib might be something new to try and the rodent legs do have a few short rows, but it’s a good pattern to try this out on because the rows are few with only a few stitches. There are videos on Youtube about short rows and how they work if you are less confident about them.
The pattern is a 4 page pattern which is easy to follow and has helpful photos to guide you.
The Harvest Pumpkin tea cosy fits a medium sized teapot that covers a Teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups or 2 pints.
