I originally started working on this design at the end of 2020, but never got around to getting it tested / released … until Crochet Society asked me to design 3 patterns for their mosaic crochet box number 43!
I chose this design for the box, as it has a relatively small repeat, and only uses basic stitches, making it ideal for all experience levels, including beginners to mosaic crochet.
The pattern includes a clear marked chart, and full written instructions.
Links to row-by-row videos, formatted for both right- and left-handers, are also included in the pattern file.
The pattern is written for three blanket sizes, ranging from a 55 x 65cm baby comforter blanket to a large 135 x 160 cm throw, and it also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size if you wish.
The pattern includes details of the yarn I used, but you can use any yarn you wish, just make sure that you have a good contrast between your C1 and C2 colours, and you use a hook appropriate to your yarn.
The design can also be used to make many other items, as you can see from my tester photos!
Zahra used the design to make a little bag for her daughter, Kristen made a cute table runner and Monique made a ruana …
Please note the pattern does not include specific instructions for making a bag / runner / ruana.
To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in Flora’s Fauna and all my subsequent overlay mosaic crochet patterns).
If you want to find out more about my Universal terms, please see this short video https://youtu.be/IsubXOfEuVw
The pattern includes various suggestions for fringes.
It doesn’t include a border, but if you do prefer an envelope border, you could use the border included in my free mosaic crochet tutorial, which can be downloaded from my website at https://www.rosinaplane.com/mosaiccrochet
