Designer Notes: “This purse is inspired by the braided paper hearts made famous by Hans Christian Andersen. It is made from two 36-square blocks (each consisting of six panels of six squares each) that are joined along two sides to form a “pocket.” The squares are worked checkerboard fashion with colors alternating every square. The colors are reversed on the second block. Solid-colored garter-stitch bands form the upper edge. Than handles are double-knitted bands; the button loop is a crocheted chain.
