Heartwaves Cowl
Let’s play with more colors with the Heartwaves Cowl! This stranded colorwork pattern is a great way to use up small bits of yarn and you can use as many colors as you want! There are two options for finishing this cowl: the pictured i-cord tie or match the corrugated ribbing.
Adjustments for other yarn weights can be done and suggestions are provided for fingering, worsted, and aran options.
Materials:
DK weight yarns:
Main Color ~ 180-190 yards
Contrast Color ~ 14-15 yards each repeat
Corrugated ribbing ~23-25 yards for each end
US 5/ 3.75mm 22-24” circular needles
US 6/ 4mm 22-24” circular needles
Or needles needed to make gauge
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Gauge: 4” x 4 “ on US 6/ 4mm needles blocked
Fair isle: 24 sts x 28 rnds
Skills: How to read colorwork charts, basic knit/ purl stitches and decreases, how to block a finished piece
- Knowledge of fair isle knitting is required (ie. reading colorwork charts and catching floats)
- This pattern does not include written instructions for the fair isle pattern.
Finished measurements are approximately:
~12” wide x 13.5” tall after blocking (i-cord option)
