Known as a head shawl, this small shawl would have been used to keep the baby warm when coming home from the hospital; they are usually plain. This one has a garter-stitch centre and a border of Old Shale stitch. It is knitted in a traditional undyed 2-ply wool from sheep native to the Shetland Isles.
2 sizes: 81cm (32”) or 130cm (51”) square
Materials:
* 1560-3705 m (1704-4047 yds) / 200-475g lace weight yarn (shown in 104 Natural White colorway)
though not vital for this item, Tension/Gauge swatched in garter st on 5mm needles (US 8)
