Hebi Socks
26/06/20 I have removed all my patterns, free or for sale, from ravelry’s downloads due to the site staff’s ableist responses to feedback about the accessibility of the new look. The patterns might be reinstated in the future, depending on what happens, but at this point that seems unlikely. Thank you to all who bought and knitted my patterns.
These socks have a lovely cable and lace pattern that reminds me somewhat of the scales on a reptile’s back - hence the name “Hebi”, which means snake in Japanese. The pattern is quite stretchy due to the multiple yarn overs, however this is tempered by the cable twists resulting in a lovely comfortable pair of socks.
They are knit from the cuff down, work up fast, and are interesting and fun to knit. The pattern is both written and charted. The pattern works best in a solid coloured yarn, so that you can see all the delicate twisted stitches and the lace pattern. Green looks especially reptilian ;)
