Hecla Wrap
Inspired by the fluctuations of light and shade casting patterns onto the hilltops of South Uist, the Hecla Wrap is a creative response to the dramatic contrasts witnessed each day in the island landscape.
Uist Wool invited Flora Kennedy / Inner Wild to design a large flowing wrap to showcase a very special ombré lace weight yarn, part of our Astair collection of wool & alpaca blends.
The Hecla Wrap Kit knits up into a generous asymmetric triangular shape that takes the knitter on an adventure into Cable, 3-Cross, Mountain Range and Chained Eyelet stitches to create a flowing landscape of rich patterns. The yarn provides a subtle graduated change that mirrors the soft light and shadow of a water-saturated sky.
The Hecla Wrap Kit includes the printed pattern and a single skein of limited edition ombré lace weight yarn (125g / 850m) that will knit into a Wrap approximately 178x118x256cm / 70x46x100 inches.
Hecla is the second highest hill in South Uist at 606m and is the Norse word for serrated.
