This cute bear blanket is double-sided so it looks great from any angle. Swap light purple or pink for the blue and you have a sweet girly bear blanket. The center pattern is worked in single crochet – although the stitches are simple, changing colors can be tricky. But have no fear, this pattern uses plenty of photos to guide you step-by-step. Next, a border in front post and back post double crochet is added. Last, eyes and paws are added to give the blanket a little 3-D definition as though this bear is peeking out to say “hello” to you!

You will need worsted weight yarn in light blue (or pink or purple for a girly blanket), dark brown, light brown, black, yellow and pink, as well as a size J/10-6.00mm crochet hook. Less than 300 yds of each color is needed.

This pattern is written for an ambitious beginner or intermediate level crocheter. You should already know how to make a starting chain and work single crochet and double crochet. The pattern will explain how to work with the grid/chart, how to change colors in single crochet, how to make the border, and how to work a reverse stitch for the final round.
