These mitts were inspired by a wonderful little store called The Hen House in Chepachet, RI that sells a wide range of lovely items made by local artisans and crafters. There’s even a section that sells local RI spun wool, local Indie dyed yarn, and a lovely variety of commercial yarns from a nearby LYS.
But the best part is that there’s a knitting group that meets there on Saturday mornings that we call “Click and Cluck”. It’s a delightful group of ladies, and a gentleman, who enjoy knitting and other crafts. And our hostesses at The Hen House kindly allow us to “cluck” away while our needles “click”, even when the laughter gets louder than the clicking.

These simple but cute mitts are perfect for when you just need a bit of warmth for your hands, but still need your fingers free for typing, texting, or other tasks where a full mitten might interfere.
The size is for an Adult Medium, but there is enough stretch to fit a fairly large hand, and enough negative ease for a smaller hand. If you have very small or larger hands, going up or down one needle size should work well.

The mitts pictured were knit using local RI wool from the Rhode Island Sheep Cooperative.

The pattern has a chart for each hand and fully written out directions for the charts.
