Gauge-size needle(s) of your preferred type for working small circumferences

Gauge
Before fulling / felting: 20 sts and 25 rounds to 10cm / 4in over stockinette using gauge-size needles.
Use 4.5mm needle as a starting point for swatching.
Size
To fit adult hand: 18-20.5cm / 7-8in circumference.
Bear in mind that the mittens look very large prior to fulling / felting.
Pattern Notes
These mittens are knitted from cuff to top, with an afterthought thumb, before being wet-fulled / felted to create a dense and cosy fabric. After drying, embellishment is added to the mittens in contrasting shades as well as the main colour.
