An understated piece designed (1987) in natural wool colors by Pat Menchini. Subtly textured horizontal stripes in white (contrasting color) and gray (main color) stretch from one sleeve cuff across the upper body, to the other sleeve cuff. The remainder of the body is completed in gray wool and sleeve cuffs are worked in white.

The front and back of this child’s pullover are worked alike. Knitting begins at the top edge. The two sleeves and the upper body are worked as a single continuous piece. Underarm edges are shaped by progressively casting off stitches in the sleeve section until the body width is reached. Then the sweater is knit straight down and finished with ribbing at the lower edge. Front and back pieces are seamed together, with small gussets inserted at right and left sides of the boat neck, Stitches are picked up and knit in ribbing to make the sleeve cuffs..

The recommended yarn for this pattern comes in 50 gram balls; 4 (5, 6) balls in Main color (gray) for the smaller (medium, larger) sizes; 3 balls in Contrasting color (white) for all three sizes. Yardage is not indicted in the pattern.
