The Hestia Square is a fun, floral square that is perfect for adding a pop of color & whimsey to any project.

The pattern also comes with instructions for making a 3-square x 3-square cushion cover, using the Hestia Square for the Front Panel & the Solid Square (whose pattern is also included) for the Back Panels. These panels are then joined in such a way to create an envelope opening for you to easily insert & remove the cushion.

Difficulty: This pattern is rated as Intermediate. However, it is written with many helpful tips, tutorials, and photos to help you. I’m also always happy to help if you have a question.

Materials Needed:
• DK yarn
• 4mm hook
• Cushion Insert
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
• Yarn needle

Size:
A finished square (both the Hestia Square & Solid Square) measures approximately 5.75 in. (14.6 cm) across. The finished cushion cover measures approximately 18.5 in. (47 cm) across, from Picot to Picot, without the cushion insert.

Depending on your tension, yours may come out bigger or smaller, even if you use the stated yarn and hook size. To adjust the size, you can change your tension, yarn weight, and/or hook size.

Please note: The amounts given below are for the total amount needed to complete a cushion cover. Detailed breakdowns (such as the amounts needed for each square, for joining, & for the border) are provided in the pattern.

Colorway 1: Stylecraft Special DK

• Color A - Saffron (20-30 yds.)
• Color B - Apricot (35-45 yds.)
• Color C - Blush (60-70 yds.)
• Color D - Raspberry (85-95 yds.)
• Color E - Cream (450-475 yds.)
• Color F - Parchment (405-430 yds.)

Colorway 2: Yarnsmiths Create DK

• Color A - Canary Yellow (20-30 yds.)
• Color B - Antique Gold (35-45 yds.)
• Color C - Paprika (60-70 yds.)
• Color D - Crimson (85-95 yds.)
• Color E - Dark Turquoise (675-700 yds.)
• Color F - Duck Egg (200-225 yds.)

I’ve also made some Hestia Squares using Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze DK yarn (which can be seen in Photos 6-8). However, because this project isn’t complete, colorway info for these squares is not included in the pattern.

The colors I used are Llanbedrog (the variegated color) & Limestone (the solid color). I used approximately 25-30 yds. of Llanbedrog & 30-35 yds. of Limestone per Hestia Square and used approximately 40-50 yds. of yarn per Solid Square.

A finished square measures approximately 5.75 in. (14.6 cm) across.
