Higgins Cardigan
This simple garter stitch cardigan is perfect for new knitters or those returning to knitting who want a straightforward, easy project. The body is made up of squares and rectangles, with just a little shaping at the neckline to give it a polished look.
For the best finish, keep the front edges neat and join new balls of yarn at the side seams.
If you love this style but would like a double-breasted version, take a look at the Leighton Jacket. And for those who popped into the Skipton Studio wishing for an adult-sized version, good news – there is one now! The Bailey Cardigan brings this timeless design to grown-up wardrobes.
CONSTRUCTION
The back, left and right front, and two sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in separate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop.

Cast on, knit, decreasing at the armhole and neck shaping, increasing on the sleeves, buttonholes, cast off. Joining seams. Sewing on buttons. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch and three needle cast off.
