Hill Country
This pattern is also available as part of the Hill Country Weavers Big Shelters Collection.
From the Designer:
I started with some of Jared’s favorite design elements in mind--garter stitch, chevrons, texture that really sings. Then I swatched our sample skein in a motif called Welting Fantastic. This stitch creates wonderful effects in Shelter--a scalloped cast-on edge, a feather-light and drapey fabric with enough spring to keep it from sagging. Its pairing of rising increases and falling decreases, and garter welts interspersed with stockinette bands, is reminiscent of the gently rolling terrain for which the Hill Country around Austin is named. The grassy green Tent colorway emphasized the resemblance to our local landscape, and the design’s adjustable length adds some essential versatility (since 9 months of the year, it’s way too hot to wear a below-the-knee wool dress in this town!).
Errata: Sleeve increase instructions should read as follows:
Inc Rnd: P1, M1, work to last st of rnd, M1, p1 – 2 sts increased.
Pattern includes directions for dress, tunic, and pullover; yardage requirements listed above are for dress as shown. For tunic/pullover lengths, 280/420 yds less is needed, on average (2 or 3 skeins in recommended yarn).
