Hills Cardigan
Brrr, the recent chilly weather calls for some squishy knits to curl up in and I have just the pattern for you: my “Hills Cardigan” from the Interweave Knitscene Fall 2017 issue!
It is worked in knit-1-below style brioche so that you have no yarn overs to deal with and the added garter stitch squares give it a modern and updated look. This technique creates a light and fluffy fabric perfect for trapping your warmth.
The easy construction and easy to remember stitch pattern turn it into a great quick knit to have it ready in no time for the cold season.
Difficulty Easy
Finished Size 18.75 (22, 25.25, 28.5)“ back width. Cardigan shown measures 18.75” on model with 32” bust.
Yarn Plymouth Yarn Galway Worsted (100% wool): #703 mountain green heather, 7 (8, 10, 12) balls.
Needles Size 8 (5 mm): 29” circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Marker; removable m; tapestry needle.
Gauge 19.5 sts and 36 rows = 4” in charted patt.
Notes This cardigan is worked as two flat rectangles: a lower back piece worked from the bottom up and an upper body piece worked from side to side. The rectangles are seamed at the sides and across the top of the back, leaving openings for the armholes.
