This is a pattern to knit a beanie worked using the stranded colourwork technique. It is worked from the bottom rib up with decreases shaping the crown.

This hat has long floats and you may tack them any way you prefer, but I have included instructions for the Ladderback technique.

yarn:
Yearling by Bloom Woolen Yarns; Worsted; 85%; Shetland, 15% Huacaya Alpaca; 120 yards (110 meters); 60g
approximate yarn amounts:
colour A (Smokey Quartz) - 35g; 70yds / 64m
colour B (Citrine) - 30g; 60yds / 55m
waste yarn in white or grey to embroider whiskers on your cat
needles:
3.5mm (us no 4) circular, 16in/41cm
4.0mm (us no 6) circular, 16in/41cm and DPNs 6in/15cm
gauge: 20 stitches x 24 rows = 4in/10cm
measured over stranded stockinette on larger needles
Some knitters work stranded knitting at a different gauge than single-colour knitting, change needles as needed to keep stitch gauge.
