Hobbes Tiger
This crochet pattern is for a large (18 inches not including tail) and adorable Hobbes the Tiger. This guy is sure to bring back a lot of good memories of the beloved Calvin and Hobbes series. An original pattern by Fat Lady Crochet.
This intermediate crochet pattern is written in US terms and is designed for crocheters with a solid understanding of simple crochet, and who don’t mind sewing. Lots of photos are included to help you along the way.
Materials
• Approximately 600 grams size 3 (DK) yarn in Orange
• Approximately 300 grams size 3 (DK) yarn in Black, White
• Recommended yarn: Hobbii 100% recycled cotton yarn
• Size 5.00 mm H hook, size 4.00 mm G hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Fiber Fill
• Pins
• Stitch marker
Notes
• Hobbes’ Body/Head is worked in one piece, using 2 strands yarn held together and larger hook.
• Hobbes is worked in continuous rounds from the bottom up; do not join unless instructed to do so. Place marker in first st of rnd and move as work progresses.
• Hobbes’ Limbs, Tail, Tummy and Muzzle are worked in continuous rnds using 2 strands yarn held together and larger hook.
• Hobbes’ Eyes, Ears and Head Stripes are worked using 1 strand of yarn and smaller hook.
• Hobbes’ Limbs, Tail, Tummy, Muzzle, Eyes, Ears and Head Stripes are worked separately and then sewn on.
• Hobbes is roughly 18 inches tall, not including Tail.
