Hogwarts Double Knitted Bookscarves
A piece of knitting magic! These bookscarves are a great introduction to double knitting for those wanting to learn the technique. The pattern includes step-by-step instructions for working reversible double knitting, with links to relevant video tutorials. The instructions also guide the knitter in the creation of braided edges, and tutors him/her in a special method for casting on to create a seamless beginning.
Only small amounts of yarn are required. A specific gauge is not specified, as all that is needed is a tight enough gauge to ensure that the yarn on one side does not show through on the other.
Updated in October 2009 to replace the seamless cast-on method with a much less fiddly version that produces the same result.
Though the pattern was originally available as a Ravelry download, it now resides at my blog. Follow the ‘free’ link above or the ‘information’ link below to find it.
The pattern is offered with license for personal, non-commercial use only.
NB: This is not an official, licensed Harry Potter product and is not intended to be perceived as such.
Update 17th Jan 2014:
I’ve received a lot of messages about this pattern! Yes, I will be uploading the pattern again. However, I want to use the pause created by my new website launch as an opportunity for re-formatting the pattern to bring it in line with my current pattern-writing style. This takes time, and is only one project among very many I have ongoing. Please accept my apologies for the delay that this engenders. Meanwhile the bare bones pattern is available at my old blog where I first published it.
