Width: 74.5 inches (189 cm)
Depth: 38 inches (96.5 cm)

Materials

  • 750 yards / 686 m sport weight yarn (2-ply, 60% Bluefaced Leicester, 20% silk, 20% yak)
  • 1 set of US 6 (4mm) circular needles
  • 1 single US 8 (5mm) double pointed needle
  • 1 single US 5 (3.75mm) double pointed needle
  • Tapestry needle, locking stitch markers, plain stitch markers, T-pins, optional blocking wires

Gauge
14 stitches and 28 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) over garter stitch, blocked (swatch should be treated exactly as final project: wash, stretch thoroughly, and pin out to dry)

Notes
Pattern is constructed as a modern hap shawl. The inner triangle begins at the bottom point and is worked to the top, using a yarn over at the beginning of each row to increase. The inner triangle is bound off along the top edge (with the larger double pointed needle) using a reverse stockinette stitch i-cord, and stitches are picked up around the triangle in each yarn over, interspersed with yarn overs, to create a lattice-like structure. Extra stitches are decreased out, and the shawl is finished up with a knitted-on edging, worked alternating smaller double pointed needle with working needle.
