When I set out to design the Honey Stitch Cowl, I wanted something that was classic yet modern. Something that both me and my mom could wear and incorporate into our wardrobes.

Then the muses whispered something about honeycombs, rigid lines and a big comfy loop. And half a dozen swatches and twice as many coffees later, the Honey Stitch Cowl was born!

Both modern and classic, it’s one of those accessories you can wear with just about anything. Over a denim work shirt (my uniform) it adds refinement and visual interest. Worn with a cashmere sweater (my mom’s uniform), it adds edge and playfulness with its bouncy texture.

The construction is fairly simple. A central panel of honey stitch cables are bracketed by twisted rib (chosen for the way it raises the knits to wonderful 3D heights). Once it reaches your desired length, it’s seamed together with the three-needle bind off. Nice and easy.

Now if you’re thinking this cowl will be a nightmare to knit because - well, look at all those cables! - you can rest easy. Because did you know that you can cable without a cable needle?

Yes! True story! It can be done and it’s faaantastic.
