Hoot-Owl Calling
I recently found out the importance of Hoot-owl calls, of the Barred Owl, with the Underground Railroad. Thank you Harriet Tubman, I honour you as a naturalist, skilled woods-person, and for the contributions you made to us as a people!
We took great comfort with a live cam and a family of Barred owls. We watched them hatch and grow and finally fledge!
This is a pattern for a cropped jumper worked from the bottom up and with a dropped sleeve. The entire piece is worked in the round with steeks. The sleeves are worked from the top down to cuff. Please, see schematic for finished sizes (in images).
#sizeinclusive
Gauge is fairly important for this project, since there is motif patterning over nearly the entire garment. Though this garment is not fitted and there is some room for gauge difference (and blocking to measurements should adjust for this.) Please, swatch and block for best result.
Stitches are cast on for bottom edge of the body. The rib is worked before working the Bottom Edge and then Owl motif chart. Steeks are cast on for the armholes and front neck. Once the body is finished, the steeks are reinforced before cutting.
This pattern is intended for a more advanced knitter comfortable with working from large charts. The front, back, and sleeves are fully charted, in addition to the Acorn motif.
