This fair isle cowl is worked in the round, so you only use knit stitch. Worked in 5 ply pure wool, it has edges of 1x1 corrugated rib (2 colour rib) and 2 bands of hearts, 1 band of ‘clipclop’ and 1 horse with saddle band as the central theme, each separated by plain coloured stripes. I designed the horse motif to keep the dealing of floats to a minimum.

I chose a grassy green for the background plus 3 colours for the hearts, horse and ‘clipclop’.

I used 45g (131m) Broadleaf Green for the background, 9g (26m) of Marigold for the ‘clipclop’, 5g (15m) Rose Pink for the hearts and 9g (26m) Raffia for the horses. (A dark brown horse colour would be dramatic too.) This cowl looks great under a jacket.

This design needs to have the stitch count as prescribed.
