Horseshoe Lace Scarf
The Horseshoe Lace used for this shawl is a basic Shetland lace pattern with a 10-stitch repea, adapted from Barbara Walker’s ‘A Treasury of Knitting Patterns’. The stitch count remains the same from row to row. Due to the stretchiness of lace, measurements and gauge are given as general guidelines and are approximations only. Our sample models have been knit using a lace weight wool/silk blend but other fibers may be used. If using “fuzzy” fibers or fingering weight yarns, a US #6 or #7 needle may be used to achieve the same open lace effect. The scarf width may be adjusted by adding or subtracting by the number of stitch repeats.
SKILLS USED: Basics, simple lace.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS (after blocking): small neck scarf - 7” x 38” (medium neck scarf - 7” x 48” / large neck scarf - 9” x 60” / stole - 13” x 78”).
MATERIALS USED: US #5 (3.75mm) straight knitting needles, approximately 190 (240 / 390 / 675) yards of lace weight or fingering weight yarn.
