Basic Garter Stitch Tie
This easy wardrobe basic makes a great gift for the man in your life. The tie may be knit with the classic tapered end or with a flat edge. The slip stitch beginning of each row makes a nice clean edge which also makes a single crochet embellished edge an easy option. The tie can also be knit with a few different weights of yarn – instructions are written for sport weight yarn with (DK / worsted weight) in parenthesis.
SKILLS USED: Basics, simple shaping.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: (see schematics) 54” long (slightly stretched), 3.5” at widest point.
GAUGE: 26 (24 / 22) sts per 4” in garter st (K every row).
MATERIALS NEEDED: US #3 (3 mm) needle (US #4 (3.5 mm) / US #5 (3.75 mm)) or size needed to obtain gauge, 100 yards of sport weight (90 yds of DK weight / 80 yds of worsted weight yarn).
