Hostkappe
This “autumn cowl,” with its combination of simple color-stranded and slipped-stitch patterns, a little lace, all from merino wool, will keep out chilly fall breezes. Inspiration comes from a hat that I found in the 2002 fall issue of Knitty, Vinter Lue. Although unlike the original designer, I did not see a commercial for Discovery Europe, with a fellow speaking Russian while holding a giant teddy bear, a lady speaking what might have been Dutch while staring at a stuffed fish, or a tall blonde lady, speaking what might have been Swedish, pulling at a pointy cap with ear flaps and color patterns, I did see the cap with the ear flaps on Knitty, and through a series of daydreams, was led to this cowl.
