Difficulty: Intermediate, US terminology

Materials:
 3.00mm hook/D-3 (US)
 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted
 Less than 25g in each colour
 Scissors
 Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:
 ch = chain
 sc = single crochet
 .. = total number of stitches

Notes:
 I designed these bookmarks to be quick, fun projects. There are two styles – colour block and stipes.
 You will ch 1 and turn at the end of each row.
 I have indicated which colours for which house by colour coding the house with the colours you will use. For example Gryffindor yarn colours will be PURPLE.
 After making the bookmarks, you will add tassels or fringe on each end. The process for this is the same irrespective of the style bookmark you have chosen.
 I prefer to use cotton as there is less stretch but you are welcome to use any fibre or thickness and adjust the hook you use accordingly.
 You will only need a small amount for each colour. I’ve used the following:
o GOLD – Stylecraft Classique DK in Sunflower (3662)
o RED – Stylecraft Classique DK in Plum (3567)
o GREEN – Rico Design Ricorumi DK in Fir Green (050)
o SILVER – Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply cotton in Glacier (818)
o YELLOW – Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply cotton in Daffodil (806)
o BLACK – Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Pure Black (402)
o BLUE – Bendigo Woollen Milss 8ply cotton in Sky (812)
 The yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished bookmarks. My bookmarks are approximately 20cm long.
