Hugs
A wonderful friend asked me to design a hat for her mother who needed a warm hug, so this is what I came up with: the hugs hat. It’s a knit and purl design with a fun cable that is knit with a twist. The cable reminds me of arms wrapped in a warm hug. Knit one with your favorite fingering weight sock yarn for someone special.
Skill Level: beginner/Intermediate
Size: One size, stretches to fit a 19” to 22” (43-56 cm) head.
Finished Measurements: approximately 26 cm/10.5” circumference after blocking.
Gauge: 24 sts to 10cm/4” in stockinette stitch on larger needles.
Materials Needed: US 1/2.5mm and size US 3/3.25 mm (or size to give you correct gauge) double pointed needles or a circular needle at least 40 inch/100 cm long for magic loop, 7 stitch markers and 3 stitch holders to temporarily hold your stitches for the cable.
Yarn: 0.6 skeins = 237.0 meters (259.2 yards), 60 grams fingering weight yarn, I used Nicole C. Méndez Sockenwolle in the color Purpura and Malabrigo Sock in Light of Love.
