This is a dishcloth pattern so no gauge.

Any size needle is fine, I suggest using a smaller needle if you are a loose knitter to help the pattern pop out. I used a US3 in my sample photo

Yarn can be any solid color cotton, cloth will use appx 2oz of yarn to complete. Be careful of very dark or bright colors as they can make the picture harder to recognize.
