Humpty Dumpty Was Made of Hand-spun Yarn
by D.M.Coder
I started out with 8.5 oz. of gray Ashford roving (Romney and Corriedale blend) and 3 oz. of white Rambouillet spun and plied heavy to bulky-weight at 8-9 WPI. After spinning and plying, I had 181 yds of gray and 92 yds. of white before dying.
The yarn was dyed with unsweetened powdered drink mix.
Materials: Red, blue, and yellow unsweetened powdered drink mix and food coloring, if needed. Hand-carded wool for stuffing, tapestry needle, 8.7 yds. metallic embroidery floss, and buttons for eyes and pants.
The pattern with full instructions are in the Spin-Off, Spring 2005 issue (published by Interweave Press).
