How This Blanket Is Made
Worked in rows from the bottom up, the Huzzah Cluster Ripple Blanket features a simple two-row repeat with rhythmic increases and decreases that create gentle peaks and valleys, a classic ripple / wave design with modern texture. You’ll alternate rows of cluster stitches with rows of single crochet and back post single crochet, separated by chains, to form all those glorious pops of color and texture.

To help you crochet with confidence, the pattern includes four short photo tutorials that walk you through each special stitch step by step. A clean, simple border completes the blanket, giving your finished piece a polished, professional look.

The sample shown here was made with an I/9/5.5mm crochet hook and Lion Brand Ferris Wheel medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (270 yds/247 m; 3 oz/85 g per hank) in the color #217-610J Cherry on Top. The project required 14 cakes of this yarn.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Pattern is designed for medium-weight yarn. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.

Choosing Self-Striping Yarn
For best results, look for yarns labeled “self-striping,” “long color changes,” or “color-shifting.” Colorways with several distinct shades create bold ripples, while tonal palettes produce a softer, more subtle effect. Viewing photos of the yarn worked up—especially in crochet stitches—can help you preview how the colors will behave. The following yarns are a few self-striping options to consider:

Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.
I used a I/9/5.5mm crochet hook. Select the hook size that gives the best appearance for your choice of yarn and your tension.
A significantly different gauge may require more or less yarn than listed.
