Hyperspanner
Hyperspanner is a long crescent created completely in Garter Stitch that allows two gorgeous yarns to play off of each other and shine. Hyperspanner is a name for a Star Trek tool that sounds much more majestic than “wrench” and seems to be apt for a shawl that consists of a large span of wild colors.
Hyperspanner has the most impact when made with one ombre or gradient yarn and one gently variegated and/or speckled fingering weight.
The sample used all of the cake of Freia Handpaints (322 yards) and about half of the Republic of Wool fingering.
The sample used US needle sizes 6, 9 and 13. However, these sizes, and the gauge, are not exact, as long as you are getting a drape that you like.
