Ice Cream Treats
Knit some sweet Ice Cream Treats - an ice cream cone with 2 scoops, and an iced lolly (or popsicle). Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, these toys are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The ice cream uses a frilled cast on technique and a three needle join, and the lolly uses knitted stripes and Kitchener stitch grafting.
NEEDLES
Three 3.75mm single pointed knitting needles (US 5).
RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; less than a 100g/280m skein in each colour.
NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, beads to decorate, and a wooden lollipop stick/craft stick.
SIZES
One size only - The ice cream is 8.5cm wide x 21cm tall, and the lolly 12cm tall x 8cm wide (not including the stick).
TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
