FOR EXTRA LENGTH TO THIS SWEATER:
The sample is built with a 10.5” length from under arm to bottom. The yardage totals in the chart was based on that figure. However if you would like a longer sweater, add these amounts of yarn per inch of length to get your total yardage. Note: The inches need to be added in each the colors. Adjust as needed, per your gauge swatch.
For size A…Add 39 yards per inch of length
For size B…Add 43 yards per inch of length
For size C…Add 47 yards per inch of length
For size D…Add 51 yards per inch of length
For size E…Add 55 yards per inch of length
For size F…Add 59 yards per inch of length
For size G…Add 63 yards per inch of length
For size H…Add 69 yards per inch of length
If those colors aren’t available, any from this category will work.

US 6 (4mm) needles. Use a smaller circular cord to begin the sweater and later increase the length of your cable to accommodate all of the stitches.

SKILL LEVEL:
Advanced - For the adventurous knitter who loves to tackle something a bit more complicated. Skills/concepts include: German Short Rows, Stranded Colorwork or Fair Isle from charts.
Notes From the Designer:
Ichor is defined as “the fluid that flows like blood in the veins of the gods.” I think of this definition and how it relates to knitting this sweater. Yarn flows. Knitting gets in your veins. The process of knitting stranded colorwork is the fluid in the process of making this sweater. When you put this all together the name Ichor for this sweater is perfect. I hope you enjoy the process of making this sweater, as well as the lovely garment you so skillfully will produce.
- Click here to watch a tutorial on a secret to knitting fairisle one-handed.
- It is very important to wash and block your swatch to check for color fastness before beginning your project.
- The pattern is written with an increase of 8 stitches in the middle of the pattern for the fitting of the shoulders and bust. The pattern is designed to fit well above the bust and stitches are added to fit the bust area.
- Three times in the top section of this sweater, you will find some short row sections. These rows are found to help the sweater fit better. The back of the sweater is designed to fit over our shoulders and shape the shoulders. I recommend using the German Short Row Method. Watch a video here to learn this technique.
- This sweater can be made in several lengths. The sample is a cropped length of 10.5”/26.7cm length from the bottom of the arm hole to the BO. When you get to the main body of sweater, the length needs to be determined before knitting so that you can make your “hue” sections the same size.
- Be sure and check the various charts as you go to keep the stitch count accurate. The sizing figures can be used to adjust for your correct fit.
