Icy Glow
Icy Glow is a wonderful half-circular shawl, ideal for beginners to practice and a fun project for more advanced knitters!
You can knit it as long and wide as you want!!
Features garter stitch CO and edges.
Feel free to substitute the Boucle yarn with Mohair, Suri Alpaca or any similar yarn. The result will be stunning!
Final suggested measurements
Wingspan length: 172 cm / 67.75″
Depth: 65 cm / 25.5″, from CO to BO edge measured along the center spine. Measurements taken after blocking.
Yarn
Main Yarn: Hedgehog Fibres, Alpaca Boucle (66% Alpaca, 34% Silk; 620m (678 yds)/100g, in the colour Seaglass
Braids on top: Hedgehog Fibres, Merino DK (100% Merino wool, superwash; 200m (219 yds)/100g, in the colour Skinny Dip
Yardage needed
Alpaca Boucle, 150 gr, Skeins 1.5
Merino DK, 130 gr, Skeins 1.5
For the braids on top, I have used 8 strands of yarn of Merino DK held together and needed 130 gr.
If you have only 1 skein of yarn, you will have to use less strands held together than 8. Note that in this case your faux braids will be smaller.
Needles
4 mm (US 6) circular needle with a cable length of at least 80 cm / 32”
Gauge (it is NOT important!)
15 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in Stockinette Stitch, worked flat, after blocking.
Notions
Blocking tools (blocking mats, t-pins), crochet hook to create the faux braids on the top, darning needle to weave-in the yarn tails, stitch markers and tape measure.
