The Idlewild Poncho was designed to be the perfect accessory for a ramble through the woods. In my mind I saw a little one running to the woods, stars in her eyes and ready for a day full of innocent imaginings, fairy hunts, bird watching, and tinkling laughter. I think it will add the perfect amount of whimsy and warmth to nature walks, mushroom hunts, and more!

This pattern comes with instructions for children’s 1-2, 4-6, 8-10, 12-14 and adult sizes XS/S, M/L, XL/2X, 3X/4X, 5X/6X as suggestions, but it is very easy to custom size for yourself or as a gift. The poncho can really be worn several different ways, as a cross body poncho, with the buttons at the center of your chest, as a wrap or cape, the possibilities can be about as creative as you want!

Idlewild is a light poncho, perfect for most of the year in milder climates or as a nice warming layer for spring and fall. It can be used for additional warmth, or simply as an extra layer over a dress. The sample was made with 100% cotton, which works well for us in the South, though a nice soft wool would work well for colder climates.

Size Reference: Pictured is a 4 year old wearing the child’s size 4-6. This size also works well as a woman’s loose cowl.
