Ihana is a classic long-sleeved cardigan with a lovely and neat folded collar. It can be worn like a shirt when worked to a regular fit, or like a jacket when made oversized. The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the garter-edged collar down to the hem with an integrated button band, so there’s no need to pick up stitches except at the underarms. Megumi Shinagawa loves collared jackets and shirts, and designed Ihana (“lovely” in Finnish) with the aim of creating a cardigan that’s both classic and lovely.

Needles: US 5 / 3.75 mm & US 4 / 3.5 mm 32” / 80 cm circular needles (for collar and body), 16” / 40 cm circular needles or DPNs (for sleeves).

NOTES 
Ihana is worked from the top down with a raglan yoke and featuring simple Stockinette Stitch, 1 x 1 Rib for the neck, and 3 x 1 Rib for hem and cuffs. Garter Stitch is worked along the edge of the collar to prevent it from curling. German Short Rows are worked in the collar, neckline and lower body to add shape and ensure a good fit. The front bands are worked at the same time as the body, with buttonholes on the right front.
