iHat
Are they i’s or exclamation points? You be the judge. (I chose the one that made for a snappier pattern name.)
iHat is knit from the bottom up in worsted weight yarn, with crochet nupps and simple stranded colorwork topped by subtle decreases and a quirky spiral crown closure. If nupps sound daunting, try the easy afterthought method included in the pattern.
Hat is designed to be worn with 0-1” negative ease.
Pattern includes charts for body and crown, full written instructions, and illustrated tutorials for the two nupp methods (as-you-go and afterthought).
About Those Nupps
A video tutorial for as-you-go contrast color crochet nupps can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8-qb5-L864
Nupps worked as you go can sink into the fabric; when blocking, pull them to the RS to help them pop. The afterthought nupp method gives more consistent results.
Skills Used
Longtail cast on, ribbing, stranded colorwork, nupps worked with crochet hook (as-you-go or afterthought), decreasing, crochet slip stitch
